As this year's Black History Month came to a close, I began to consider the impact that several black artists have had on me. Through their songs, photographs, choreographies, and scripts, many of these artists used their work as a mechanism to break down the racial barriers that African Americans face. In doing so their voices have brought a comfort and an understanding that sometimes can't be grasped with words. BLACK SOUND an attempt to highlight and share some of the narratives that have inspired me to share these voices if they have not been heard.
